Science Fair Results - December 2011

posted Dec 20, 2011, 9:13 AM by Mike Tuntland
The annual Saint Mary School 7th grade science fair was held on December 8th & 9th in the school’s Activity Center. All students in the 7th grade have been working on a science project since late August. The project entails an independent study experiment, written report, backboard display and classroom presentation. The project provides an opportunity to pursue an aspect of science to learn first hand the basics of the scientific process. All students must complete a science project for a classroom grade, but are invited to participate in the annual school science fair competition. The top ten school science fair projects are invited to advance to regional competition. The school science fair is a public exhibition and showcase that provides encouragement and recognition for those students who may become the scientists of the future.

Saint Mary School is a member of the Illinois Junior Academy of Science and participates in science fair expositions at the local (school), regional (Museum of Science and Industry in March), and state (University of Illinois, Champaign in May) levels.
