Baseball is a spring sport for boys. Eighth grade boys may try out for the sport in early spring. The team is a part of the Chicago Northwest Conference.
Basketball is a winter sport for both boys and girls.
Students in grades 5-8 can try out for the basketball teams in November. Many of our alums have gone on to play at the varsity level in  their high schools. Saint Mary hosts a basketball tournament annually in memory of  Sean McInerney, a Saint Mary alum. This tournament is held every year at Christmas. Basketball clinics are offered during the year for younger students who are interested   in learning the fundamentals of the game.

The cheer program focuses on continual development for all cheerleaders. A majority of our girls go on to cheer at their respective high schools. Some have even gone on to cheer at the collegiate level!
The Non-Competitive Cheer Squad is a fun means of participating in organized cheerleading. All 5th-8th grade girls are welcome to cheer for football games. The squad participates in pep rallies and football games.
The Competitive Cheer Team is open to girls in 5th-8th grades.  The girls begin the season in the summer, learning routines and developing skills, and continues through the winter. Both the  Junior Varsity and Varsity teams compete in several competitions, including the State Championships in Peoria. Our Varsity cheerleaders are the current IESA State Champions, winning     back to back in 2010 and 2011.

Cross Country is a fall sport which runs from August through mid-October. The Cross Country team has been in existence for 17 years. The sport is largely made up of 5th-8th grade students in  four teams:  Junior Varsity Girls, Junior varsity Boys, Varsity Girls and Varsity Boys.

Third and fourth grade boys and girls practice once a week and compete on Saturday mornings before the Saint Mary football games. Flag Football is a fun and friendly environment to learn the fundamentals of a team sport.
This club was formed in 2008 to ease younger students into the athletic side of Saint Mary School and introduce them  to Saint  Mary's running programs. Children are educated in sportsmanship, dedication, health, and work ethic, in a  non-competitive environment. 
Saint Mary School is the only elementary school in the area that has a golf team for students!  Formed in 2010, the golf team is open to boys and girls in grades 3-8. The season begins officially in the winter with a PGA or LPGA pro working with our students at the Buffalo Grove Golf Dome on fundamentals and etiquette. In the spring the team moves outside for rounds at several local golf courses. Staff at the Dome and area golf clubs continue to be impressed with the behavior and enthusiam of our young golfers!
Seventh and eighth grade girls are welcome to try out for the spring softball season. The team participates in the Northwest Catholic Conference.
Track is a spring sport that runs from early March to mid-May,  comprised of 5th-8th grade students. The JV runners compete in Long Jump, Softball Throw, 50M Dash, 200M Dash, 800M Dash, 4X100M Relay, and the 4X200M Relay. The varsity runners compete in a Long Jump, Shot Put, 100M Dash, 400M Dash, 1600M Run, 4X100M Relay, and the 4X400M Relay. During the IESA State competitions, events such as Discus, High Jump and hurdles are added. In 2010-2011, 58 students participated in the Saint Mary Track Program.

The volleyball teams hold tryouts in February for boys and August for girls. The program is open to 6th-8th graders. Both boys and girls teams have enjoyed great success over the part few years including our 8th grade boys being the 2010 Conference Champions!
